太仓特色文化体育生活精彩纷呈，被誉为“百戏之祖”的昆曲也起源于太仓，
有全国桥牌之乡、武术之乡、龙狮之乡、丝竹之乡、民乐之乡、舞蹈之乡等
称号。 全面建成城乡一体“十分钟健身圈”，开展文化惠民工程建设。积极承
办“国际田联竞走挑战赛”、“国际青少年乒乓球巡回赛”等国际国内重大赛
事，成功申办了2018年国际田联世界竞走团体锦标赛。

Taicang features great cultural diversity. Kunqu Opera, the “ancestor
of all operas”, originated in Taicang. The city has been labeled the
home of bridge (card), martial arts, lion and dragon dance, classical
music, folk music and dancing and so on. A “ten-minute fitness
circle” featuring urban and rural integration has been established.
Programs aiming to enable the people to benefit from cultural activities
have been launched. In addition, Taicang is highly motivated to
hold international and national significant events, such as the “IAAF
Race Walking Challenge” and the “International Teenagers’ Table
Tennis Tour”. It has successfully won the bid to hold the 2018 IAAF
World Race Walking Team Championships.
